Phishers hack Instagram account of Jean-Claude Biver

Jean-Claude Biver is only an occasional Instagram poster, using the platform mainly to share images and videos of how beautiful his life has become since he stepped back from running LVMH’s Watchmaking Division last year.

Following hip replacement surgery last year, cycling, sailing, fine dining and family — not necessarily in that order — appear to be his biggest passions, which are shared with his 230,000 followers.

But today he has warned those followers that his Instagram page has been hacked and that any direct messages from him should not be opened.

“These are phishing attempts,” he cautions.

Phishing is the fraudulent practice of sending messages purporting to be from reputable companies or individuals in order to induce people to reveal personal information, such as passwords and credit card numbers.

Response from followers was not entirely sympathetic, with most making light of the problem and joking about it. “Gutted I didn’t get a message to go fishing with Biver ,”said ‘Markb1985’.

“Maybe choose a better password Mr Biver! Hublot1234 was way to simple!” quipped ‘dorinator’.
