01 401 7764 3185-Set - Oris Carl Brashear Calibre 401 Limited Edition

Oris has added a small seconds complication to the inhouse developed Calibre 400 that it unveiled last year. The resulting new movement, which has the same 5-day power reserve as the 400, has been named the 401.

The automatic 401 movement is being used in a 2,000-piece limited edition Oris Carl Brashear, created in support of the Carl Brashear Foundation.

The 40mm bronze watch with bronze unidirectional bezel has a blue dial with the small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock.

It is worn on a blue woven elastic nylon webbing strap with bronze buckle and goes on sale this month for CHF 3,900.

Oris is so confident in the reliability and durability of its movement and watch that it offers a 10-year warranty.

Carl Brashear was the US Navy’s first African American diver. He overcame racism, poverty, illiteracy and physical disability during his service and, on retirement, committed himself to the Navy’s alcohol abuse course for help with alcoholism. Today he is one of the most celebrated American military heroes.

The Carl Brashear Foundation is run by Carl’s son Phillip. It is a non-profit organisation set up to expose the incredible life of Carl Brashear and to continue his legacy for future generations.
