Oliver Smith Jeweler, which has showrooms in Scottsdale, Arizona, and Aspen, Colorado, is promoting a curated collection of vintage Panerai timepieces that will be presented alongside jewelry and current Panerai collections and ranges from the likes A. Lange & Söhne, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Bremont, and Blancpain.
Mr Oliver Smith is arguably North America’s leading expert in historic Panerai watches, and his collection of rare vintage models charts the brand’s history back to World War II.
“No one in the United States specializes in estate Panerai watches like we do,” Mr Smith claims.
“Each piece in the selection has been thoroughly researched and handpicked specifically for its aesthetics, history, and significance within the Panerai universe.
“We spend time analyzing every historic Panerai watch, to know if you’re buying vintage you need to know provenance,” he adds.
As one of the first Panerai retailers in the United States, working with the brand since 1999, Mr Smith saw Panerai mixing fascinating history with stylish and wearable modern day timepieces.
He now employs a team of ‘Paneristi’ whose expertise and connections led to the launch of this curated collection. “Collectors are always looking for the next big thing. Right now they are collecting pieces from the 1970s and 1980s” says Mr Smith. “In another few years, we predict that collectors will start seeking watches from the 1990s. Panerai watch production really started in earnest in the 1990s.”
The historical pieces will be on show at the company’s Panerai Boutique in Aspen from December 27 to January 5, 2020 and are always available for viewing in its Scottsdale showroom.
