Oliver Smith opens luxury pre-owned watch boutique in Aspen

Scottsdale, Arizona, jeweler Oliver Smith is opening a pre-owned watch boutique upstairs from its Panerai showroom in Aspen, Colorado.

The upmarket resort houses a slew of top end watch boutiques, including Meridian Jewelers, Betteridge, Richard Mille, Van Cleef & Arpels and Roger Dubuis thanks to its well-healed residents and year-round visitors.

Elizabeth Smith, daughter of Oliver Smith, the business’s eponymous owner, will manage both the Panerai and pre-owned boutique when it opens this weekend on July 4.

She tells Forbes that, since opening with Panerai in the town, it has become clear there is strong demand for luxury pre-owned watches as well.

“We did a couple of pop ups upstairs to test the product over the Fourth of July and over New Year’s, which are the busiest times for us. We had a lot of success with it and a lot of excitement around it with clients. So, we felt like we had the market and the clients captured to do something more permanently.”

The upstairs space is flooded with natural light from almost uninterrupted floor to ceiling windows that will see views of the surrounding mountains competing for attention with vintage watches from Patek Philippe, Rolex and Panerai.
