New team aims to turbocharge Meccaniche Veloci

Meccaniche Veloci S.A. has officially unveiled Riccardo Monfardino as its chief executive and Cesare Cerrito as executive chairman.

The new management team has been in place since March and held its first meetings with trade professionals and media at Baselworld.

Monfardino has nearly twenty years of experience in the watchmaking and luxury sectors in Switzerland, most recently as sales director at Franck Muller for the past 15 years.

His stated aim is to expand the Meccaniche Veloci’s commercial network, which is expected to include a focused plan to improve the brand’s presence in the UK.

"I am thrilled to accept this important role and am really happy to be back in Geneva, the city where Meccaniche Veloci is headquartered," said Monfardino.

"My priority is to add value to the brand and contribute to the further strengthening of its position in the industry. It is a crucial time of growth for Meccaniche Veloci, which must be tackled by all managers,” he added.

Cerrito was appointed executive chairman of the company in March, when the management of the brand was taken over by a new Geneva-based company, Meccaniche Veloci S.A.

This move ensured that the brand will maintain Italian design while keeping its “Swiss made” label, the company said.

"Meccaniche Veloci is undergoing a period of rapid expansion, which has seen the recent launch of the new collection CorsaCorta Evo at Baselworld, the expansion of the distribution network and the transfer of management to Geneva," said Cerrito.
