New IWC CEO welcomes global sports stars to Laureus World Sports Awards

2017 Laureus World Sports Awards

Christopher Grainger-Herr enjoyed one of the great perks of becoming CEO of IWC Schaffhausen this week when he joined the most successful sportsmen and women from around the globe at the annual Laureus World Sports Awards in Monaco, which the watch brand sponsors.

Mr Grainger-Herr was appointed CEO in November last year, and took over duties from George Kern at the prestigious event.

He unveiled a limited edition IWC Da Vinci Chronograph Edition “Laureus Sport for Good Foundation” timepiece at the event.

The watch has a limited production of 1500 pieces, with some of the proceeds from sales used to support the foundations sports projects for children and adolescents.

This year’s design – the 11th produced since IWC began supporting the foundation, has a blue dial and back engraving dedicated to the foundation.

The Laureus foundation organises the Laureus World Sports Awards to honour the most successful athletes and raise awareness of its projects.

Three former sports stars were accepted into this elite club of just 61 ambassadors: Swiss cyclist Fabian Cancellara, Dutch footballer Ruud Gullit and Scottish track cyclist Sir Chris Hoy.

The new members received a Da Vinci Chronograph Edition “Laureus Sport for Good Foundation” (Ref. IW393402) from Mr Grainger-Herr.
