Mr Porter’s most expensive watch ever just landed on its site

Mr Porter and Bell & Ross have created a one off exclusive piece on the Mr Porter site, a blue sapphire tourbillon piece.

The BR-X1 Skeleton Tourbillon is the watch brand’s head turner for Baselworld this year, creating only 6; Mr Porter managed to nab the rights to sell the only blue variant created.

The full case is cut out of five blocks of sapphire and it takes several days to produce the components for this single watch. Housed within the full sapphire case is a hand-wound skeleton flying-tourbillon movement, manufactured in-house by Bell & Ross.

The 45mm square piece has its hours and minutes titanium subdial at the 12 o’clock position, as well as the exposed tourbillon cage sitting below at the 6 o’clock. The skeletonised movement also accounts for around 100 hours of autonomy.

The timepiece will be the most expensive item available to purchase on Mr Porter in its seven-year history, clocking in at $480,000.
