A limited edition Omega Speedmaster created to commemorate Michael Schumacher’s fifth Formula One world title victory is up for sale at next week’s Luxury Watch Sale at Fellows, a UK-based auctioneer.
The chronograph was made in a limited run of 5,555 and went on sale in 2002. The piece up for auction is number 2656.
It’s dial has a checkered flag subdial at 6 o’clock and has Schumacher’s name and signature on the back.
Fellows has given the watch a pre-sale estimate of £1,200 – £1,800 for its 15th February Luxury Watch Sale.
It is among 296 lots that includes 56 watches from Rolex, four from Patek Philippe and 26 from Omega.
The limited edition Omega Speedmaster Racing chronograph comes in a stainless steel case with a tachymeter bezel. Reference 3529.50 and serial 58410071, the timepiece has a signed automatic calibre 1151 with a quick date set.
It features a two-tone carbon fibre effect dial with luminous baton hour markers, subsidiary recorder dials to six, nine and twelve, and an outer date track. The watch is fitted to a signed stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp.
Measuring 39mm, included with the lot is a box in almost unused condition and papers dated 03/10/2003.
