Maurice Lacroix makes 20th anniversary collection of Pontos watches

Maurice Lacroix is marking the 20th anniversary of its first Pontos watches with a five-piece collection including a vintage-looking Pontos Chronograph Monopusher limited edition, two automatic chronographs and two Day-Dates.

The emphasis of the collection is on details, finishes, angles and contrasts that have always given the Pontos its elegant and contemporary style.

“It is a contemporary spirit that respects the codes of traditional watchmaking, dressy without being formal, refined without relying on design gimmicks,” Maurice Lacroix says.

Their smooth bezels are slightly angled and polished on the surface with satin-finished on the thin edge while alternating matte and polished finishes bring interest to the round cases, which have spiral notched crowns protected either by chronograph pushers or shoulders to the right of the dial.

The only exception to the protected crown rule is the Pontos Chronograph Monopusher, limited edition of 500 pieces, which has a single pusher at 2 o’clock.

The 41mm Pontos Chronograph Monopusher is a limited edition of 500 pieces. It houses the ML166 automatic movement in a steel case with black PVD coating.

It has a graduated dial with black at the edges that gradually grows lighter to mid-grey at the centre.

Telemeter and tachymeter scales are presented in red and blue.

The Pontos Day-Date has two new versions added to a redesigned family launched in 2017. The 41mm watch has triangular hour-markers, a sunken minute circle, cut-outs in the dial at 6 o’clock and 12 o’clock that highlight the date and the day respectively, and slightly trapezoidal hands.

One is presented in a bronze case with a green dial (above). The other has a silvered sunray-brushed dial (below) that can be worn on a leather strap or steel bracelet.

The most commercial Pontos models are likely to be the Chronographs, which come in a slightly larger 43mm case housing the ML112 automatic movement.

The dial is available as a lacquered white or sunray-brushed grey version with gold or blue markers and hands.
