Scottish menswear brand Lyle & Scott has signed a multi-year license partnership with Dartmouth Brands for the co-design, manufacture, marketing and distribution of timepieces.
The deal initially covers the UK and European Union, but Dartmouth Brands, which has an office in New York, hopes it will roll out globally.
Lyle & Scott can trace its history back to 1874 when it began life as a small factory in the Scottish Borders.
The brand was once best known for its sportswear for golfers, but has recently become a much more on trend fashion label with a strong following among the younger generation who instantly recognize its golden eagle logo.
The watches designed by Dartmouth Brands similarly convey a casual sophistication fused with functionality and durability, the company says.
“Launching a wristwatch business shows our continued commitment to create exceptional products for our customer’s lifestyle. Dartmouth is a fantastic partner as we both share the same desire to match craft with design and technical innovation,” adds Tom Duncan, director of sportswear, licensing and retail for Lyle & Scott.
Jim Clawley, sales director at Dartmouth Brands, says the company will show retail partners the first Lyle & Scott collection at this month’s Baselworld. “The Lyle & Scott watch collection will be another successful chapter in this storied British menswear institution,” he promises.
The first collection will feature stainless models with Japanese Miyota and Seiko movements. They will be ready for retail in Fall this year.
