LVMH Watch Week in Dubai was one of the great innovations when it took place, before anybody had even heard of covid, in January of this year.
At the time, it was scheduled to be just one of a raft of major events that still included Baselworld and Watches and Wonders Geneva, both of which were torpedoed by the virus.
Authorised dealers of Hublot, Bulgari and Zenith, along with a cohort of journalists, were flown to the United Arab Emirates to sample the delights of the Bulgari Hotel under blue skies on the shores of the Arabian Gulf.
The captive audience was presented with key collections for this year and given a chance to speak with the top brass of LVMH in business meetings and social events.
The watch community yearns to get back to these gatherings but, for early 2021 at least, LVMH is not prepared to take the risk of a physical event and instead announced that its Watch Week will take place as a series of online events at the end of January for retailers and the press.
A digital press conference on January 25 will see Stéphane Bianchi, CEO of LVMH Watches & Jewellery Division, Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO of Bulgari, Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot and Julien Tornare, CEO of Zenith, presenting 2021 new watch collections and outlining the maisons’ strategies.
TAG Heuer is not taking part in the webinar.
