John Surtees designs Omologato watch for air ambulance and blood bike charity auction

Omologato Watches, a British brand specialising in motor sport-inspired watches, has produced a one-off piece that will be auctioned to raise money for the Henry Surtees Foundation.

The watch has been designed by  motorcycle and Formula One champion John Surtees, CBE, and Omologato founder Shami Kalra.

It will be sold at auction by Bonhams on July 11.


Henry Surtees Foundation was founded following the tragic death of John Surtees’ son, Henry, killed aged just 18 years old whilst competing in a Formula 2 race at Brands Hatch in 2009.

It has already raised over £150,000 for Air Ambulances and Blood Bike Groups.

Omologato founder Shami Kalra said: “It is an enormous honour to design a unique, one-off Omologato watch with John Surtees. He is a massive hero of mine and it is a great privilege to create a chronograph alongside this motorsport legend and provide support to the Henry Surtees Foundation.”

Mr Surtees added: “On behalf of the Henry Surtees Foundation, I am really grateful to Omologato for producing this one exclusive watch for the founation. I will be instrumental in the design process of this bespoke watch, which we hope will raise significant funds for the life saving initiatives that the foundation supports. I hope that the successful bidder will wear the watch to with pride.”

The John Surtees Omologato watch will be auctioned on Tuesday 11 July 2017 at Mercedes-Benz World, Weybridge Surrey. The Champagne and canape reception will feature interviews with racers and celebrity guest participants, plus an incredible fundraising auction hosted by Bonhams featuring signed memorabilia and exclusive experiences. Guests will also have the opportunity to explore the fascinating exhibitions and get up close to legendary Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
