Interchangeable watch secures French accolade

Klokers, a French start-up business, has been recognised for its innovative design work and has been named the ‘Observeur du design 2018’ label for its KLOK-01 and for its general brand concept, inspired by the circular slide rule.

KLOK-01 is composed of three circular disks (one each for the hours, minutes, and seconds), which rotate counter- clockwise to indicate the time along the vertical axis, and this internationally acknowledged French accolade represents a huge step forward for the fledgling brand.

The brand collaborated with the Parisian design agency Berra Blanquer Design on the following points: functional aesthetics, Swiss Made quality at an affordable price, the unique design of the dial as a brand signature, and the inspiration by the original object.

Like many brands today, Klokers started life on crowdfunding site Kickstarter in 2015 with the aim of raising €50,000 to pay for the manufacture of its first pieces.

KLOK-01 is a watch-head that is attached to the accessories, including straps, double straps, jewels-straps, and pocket watches, by means of a patented and unique fixing system allowing easy interchangeability.

The brand is now working with former Swico brand manager Mark Ryder’s new Ryder Brands consultancy company to help develop and grow its distribution and retail network in the UK.
