Hublot has clarified that its partnership with Ferrari is unaffected by this week’s appointment of Movado Group as an official licensed partner to the car maker.
Responding to questions via its Twitter page, Hublot noted: “It doesn’t affect the Hublot Ferrari partnership in any way.”
“Ferrari has always had a line of lower-end watches,” it added dismissively.
Movado Group will launch a range of watches at Baselworld in 2013, and will distribute them to retailers in the summer of next year. The agreement will mean a much broader distribution of Ferrari watches than the current situation, which sees collections sold only via Ferrari stores and web sites.
Movado’s UK joint venture partner, MGS Distribution, confirmed that it has secured the distribution rights to the Ferrari watches, which will be priced in the £100-500 range.
