The Braemar Highland Gathering hit headlines this weekend when photographers caught Prince Charles and The Queen sharing what looked like a highly amusing joke.
That was a boost for Scottish retailer ROX, which was the Official Timing Sponsor of Track Events in conjunction with Hublot, for which it is an official retailer.
Over the last 900 years since the annual congregations of the Gatherings have occurred in Scotland, the events have garnered great interest and large crowds.
This year a record 15,000 spectators came to support international and military athletes participating in both the ‘heavy’ and ‘track’ events of the traditional highland games.
For 150 years the Society has enjoyed the Royal Patronage of five successive Monarchs who have been keen supporters of the annual Gathering.
Her Majesty The Queen is the current, and longest serving, Patron of the Braemar Royal Highland Society and her loyal support has helped the customs of the Gathering remain, as cherished today, as ever before.
Her Majesty The Queen was also joined at the event by the Prince of Wales, Princess Royal and Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh.
Hublot feels it is a natural supporter of the Gathering due to its passion for fusing modernity and tradition.
Hublot champions the support of maintaining traditional values and customs and striking a harmonious balance between man and nature. Striving for success, team spirit and authenticity is at the heart of both Hublot and the Braemar Royal Highland Society.
Benoît Lecigne, Hublot’s UK, France and Eastern Europe brand director said: “On behalf of all the international team at Hublot, I can confirm we are delighted to be a part of the Braemar Royal Highland Society. We are constantly looking to develop our awareness and business in Scotland through our partnerships with the local retailer ROX which has established points of sale in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. The Braemar Highland Gathering is a celebratory local festivity which helps to enable us to extend and strengthen our presence in this territory.”
