HODINKEE is delighting vintage Heuer enthusiasts by creating a modern day Carrera Dato based on the 1960s Heuer 3147N ‘Dato 45’ chronograph.
The limited edition of 250 pieces goes on sale today for $7,250, a shade lower than the $8,000 HODINKEE was asking for an original Dato (now sold out).
HODINKEE and TAG Heuer have made a modern watch with the same combination of date at 9 o’clock and a 30-minute chronograph counter on the opposite side of the black dial.
It required a modification of the automatic Calibre Heuer 02 movement, without compromising its 80 hours of power reserve.
The watch comes in a 39mm steel TAG Heuer’s vintage-inspired Carrera “glassbox” case and a domed crystal glass is shaped to look like a vintage watch without the aging of original mineral glass.
Half of the 250 watches will be sold at HODINKEE Shop and the rest go on sale at TAG Heuer points of sale in the US and Japan.
