The idea of Victorinox using its INOX, winner of last year’s WatchPro Sports Watch of the Year, as its flagship timepiece and the core of a larger collection was cemented this year with the release of a series of accessories being used to dress the sturdy steel beater and create something entirely different. None was as successful as the limited edition Naimakka series of watches which are presented on handwoven paracord straps created by the eponymous Swedish specialist. The idea is that if you find yourself in a tricky survival situation (which INOX owners no doubt frequently do) then you can unravel the strap and use several feet of high tensile cord to save your bacon. Naimakka will even reweave or replace the strap if it has been used in the purpose for which it is intended. The whole concept seems to play nicely to the custom-strap crowd and gives Victorinox added credentials amongst the cool kids.
