HIGHLY COMMENDED: Sports Activity Watches of the Year, Eberhard & Co Scafograf 300

A recent winner at the recent GPHG Awards, the Scafograf 300 is Eberhard & Co’s reinterpretation of its own Scafograf collection that was launched in the 1950s.

It’s a divers’ watch that appeals strongly to the adventurous and sporty watch collector.

It’s a mechanical, self-winding timepiece with a 43mm steel case, a unidirectional rotating bezel in ceramic, with luminescent markings on the first 15 minutes scale, curved sapphire glass and an automatic helium escape valve at 9 o’clock.

The “galbé” black dial has luminescent applied indices and the date at 3 o’clock, while the name of the model, the central seconds hand and the dots can be white, light blue or yellow.

Proving its diving credentials, the Scafograf 300 is water-resistant to 300m and has a screwed case-back personalised with an engraved starfish.

Eberhard & Co hasn’t reinvented the wheel here (very few great timepieces are truly groundbreaking) but it has produced a sumptuous divers’ watch that will stand the test of time.
