Vincent Perriard, chief executive of the hydraulically inclined haute horlogerie watch brand HYT, said he would never create a regular-shaped wristwatch.
We have always admired HYT’s differences, but the classic shape of its H2 Tradition is a welcome addition to the unconventional brand.
Not only is the 48.8mm watch an accepted shape, it also uses classical decorative techniques and features such as guilloche, lacquered dials and blued hands.
A move to a regulator-style dial layout meant a major reworking of the movement by long-term development partners Audemars Piguet Renaud et Papi (APRP) which produced the complicated manually-wound mechanical movement that uses blue liquid in a tube to indicate the hours.
Just 50 pieces of the white gold and titanium H2 Tradition will be produced.
The price at launch was $189,000 (£153,000).
