Glashütte Original has tweaked the look of its 2019 Senator Chronometer, ten years after it was first introduced in 2009.

The Swatch Group-owned German watchmaker has made this year’s model in rose gold and reduced the size of its bezel to make more room for its silver-grained dial.

Swiss watches wanting to be certified as chronometers are typically sent to COSC for testing. Glashütte Original has received its chronometer-rating from the German Calibration Service.

Glashütte Original is one of the rare watchmakers with its own dial manufacturing facility, and it is put to good use with the Senator where the fine grain of the silver-grained lacquer lends the surface a velvety texture.

Its design is inspired by historic marine chronometers with the small at 6 o’clock, the running at 12 o’clock and an oversized date at 3 o’clock.

Inside beats Glashütte Original’s Calibre 58-01 manual winding movement. It is visible through a crystal case back.
