George Clooney’s tequila brand teams with Omega for limited edition Seamaster

A collaboration between Casamigos Tequila and venerable Swiss watchmaker Omega may at first glance seem a strange match, until you remember that the Casamigos brand was created and turned into a billion dollar business by George Clooney, a long term ambassador for the brand.

Casamigos was bought by drinks mega-conglomerate Diagio in 2017, but retains links to Mr Clooney and other co-founeders Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman.

Mr Gerber, the husband of Omega ambassador Cindy Crawford and their children Kaia and Presley Gerber who are also ambassadors, are like extended family to Omega.

Call them friends, commercial geniuses or both, but the dream team has come together to make a limited edition Seamaster Planet Ocean called the Deep Black Casamigos.

It is limited to just 80 pieces and can only be purchased from Omega Boutiques in the USA at a retail price of $11,600 + tax.

Speaking about the new watch release, Raynald Aeschlimann, president and CEO of Omega, says: “George and Rande are a special part of the Omega family and we’ve always been inspired by the creativity and premium quality of their Casamigos Tequila and Mezcal products. We wanted to do something special that celebrated our Deep Black design as well as the look of their world-renowned Casamigos Tequila and Mezcal.”

The 45.5mm black ceramic watch is a combination of a GMT model and diving watch finished in a matte texture inspired by the newly-launched Casamigos Mezcal.

It has a sapphire crystal case back that has been treated to resemble the dark glass of the Casamigos Mezcal bottle. It is also lacquered with a white Casamigos Mezcal logo and Limited-Edition number.
