Sixteen vintage Rolex watches auctioned online by California’s Bob’s Watches have sold for a total of $587,000.
A Rolex Daytona 6241 Paul Newman from around 1970, with a pre-sale estimate of $175,000 to $225,000 sold for $191,000.
There were 3,608 registered bidders for the auction, but most were browsing with only 146 placing bids.
All the watches were sold without buyer’s premium, a charge that can add up to 25% to sale prices at auction.
Bidders came online from 79 different countries, according to Bob’s Watches.
Bob’s Watches named the sale the Fresh Finds auction because every watch was being sold for the first time by their original owners.
