Fellows shrugs off economic doubts with gold-themed watch auction

1

Fellows auction house is hosting a gold-themed watch sale next week.

“Gold – that perennial refuge when financial skies darken – graces the front and back covers of July’s Watch Sale Catalogue. Whether are wearing an appreciating asset or just trying to tempt an answering glint from the struggling summer sun, we have gold galore from the bold bracelet form of a vintage Bulgari Serpent to the elegant sliver that is a Vacheron Constantin ultra-thin,” the company teases.

Watches from Heuer feature strongly in the auction. Among these lots, the Heuer gentleman’s stainless steel Monaco chronograph stands out. This legendary, watch style was worn by Steve McQueen in the 1971 film, Le Mans.

Along the fil theme, the sale also features a special, limited edition 2012 Seamaster Professional Co-Axial 007. The SkyFall Limited Edition watch celebrated Omega’s seventh performance in a supporting role in a Bond film and is a great edition to any Bond fan’s collection.

Rolex remains a firm favourite with 68 watches and 10 Rolex watch boxes in this auction. One to look out for is the gentleman’s Oyster Perpetual Date Explorer II bracelet watch. The Oyster Perpetual Date Explorer II is always a popular model from Rolex and this lot is accompanied by its box and papers.

“So, why not indulge yourself, if the sun doesn’t shine, at least your wrist will,” a Fellows spokesman quipped.

The Watch Sale takes place on Tuesday 26th July at 11am at Fellows.co.uk.
