Fears goes big with expansion of its Brunswick collection

Fears has added a new, larger model to its popular Brunswick line of watches.

The Brunswick 40 is powered by a Swiss automatic movement and comes in three new dial colours.

In addition to the fresh aesthetic offering, the new, larger 40mm case lends the Brunswick 40 a sportier feel with subtle adjustments to the proportions resulting in greater wrist presence.

The case is finished with a combination of circular brushing and polishing, giving the same elegant feel as the original 38mm case with no flat surfaces.

The watches also feature a 100m water resistance, giving owners greater peace of mind while wearing their watch in a variety of situations.

The dial comes in Opaline Silver, Fears Blue and Flamingo Pink, with each offering several layers with multiple finishes applied resulting in an appearance that changes with the light.

All three colours use Fears’ bespoke ‘Edwin’ numerals, which have been milled and diamond polished to a mirror shine before being hand applied to the dial.

Time is shown on the Brunswick 40 using a new set of solid ‘pipette-shaped’ hands, with their distinctive profile and graceful tip.

Both the hour and minute hands have a diamond-cut bevel running down the centre and are polished to a mirror shine to aide legibility at all angles.

The polished seconds hand features the ‘Fears Pipette’ logo subtly milled into its counterbalance.

In terms of the bracelet, the Brunswick 40 collection comes on a bespoke five-link bracelet in milled stainless steel. Created especially for this watch, it features flush-fitting end links that give it an integrated, contemporary look.

The bracelet is secured to the wrist with a trigger-release butterfly clasp that when opened reveals a secret ‘Bristol Flower’ motif.

Commenting on the launch of the new Brunswick 40, Nicholas Bowman-Scargill, (4th) Managing Director of Fears Watch Company, said: “After the success of the original Brunswick with its 38 mm case design I’m delighted that we’re now able to introduce a larger, automatic version of our elegant, cushion-cased watch. Not only a new, sportier design but one that features the first Fears bracelet since the 1970s.”

Adding: “This Brunswick is truly a ‘beach-to-boardroom’ watch allowing people to have one watch for all occasions. It’s great to see the return of the Fears Blue dial colour on a watch in our collection, joined by clean and contemporary colours across the new range. I see the Brunswick 40 as the sportier, older brother to the classic 38mm Brunswick.”

The Fears Brunswick 40 retails at $3,500 +VAT, with delivery of the first batches commencing in November.
