Elliot Brown has selected Matthew Ogg as its ambassador at sea during the Clipper Round the World yacht race.
The Poole-based watch brand is official timekeeper of the race and all skippers and crew members will be wearing Elliot Brown crew watches during their four months at sea.
Ogg, a 28-year-old political consultant from London, will serve as ambassador to the brand during the race, testing the Canford crew watch and reporting back on the extreme conditions experienced at sea with regular blog, video and photo updates.
Ogg is a crew member of the Da Nang Viet Nam yacht, sponsored by the Vietnamese city’s tourist board, and like the majority of crew members involved in the race is an amateur, taking time off from his day job to participate. Twelve yachts got underway from London, bound for Rio de Janeiro in the first leg of the race, three days ago.
“Life is an adventure and we only have so much time – you can’t buy it back! I am privileged to represent Elliot Brown during the extraordinary challenge,” said Matthew. “Endurance is putting yourself on the line and taking whatever is thrown at you to achieve something powerful and inspiring, and the positive mental attitude such experience cultivates.”

His application struck a chord with us and really appealed to our sense of humour – Matt printed and cut out a paper watch, then posed with it in a number of daft images. If his photography and writing skills are up there with his paper-cutting and gluing, we may get on rather well. We can’t wait to experience the race via Matt’s on-board experiences.”
Elliot Brown is producing 1000 special edition Clipper Race crew member watches to retail at £395.
