Edox ambassador and champion free diver Christian ‘Iceman’ Redl set a new world record by diving 200m beneath the surface of a frozen Austrian lake without oxygen tanks.

Redl completed the challenge in the 2°C waters of Lake Weissensee on Friday whilst wearing a 2mm-thick neoprene wetsuit and a Edox Chronoffshore-1 watch.

Since joining forces in 2010, Redl has undertaken free dives around the world, including a world-first dive under the North Pole.

The depth of the dive didn’t challenge the 45mm Edox Chronoffshore-1, which is water resistant to 500m. The watch is treated with black PVD and features a 3mm sapphire crystal, black ceramic bezel with yellow/green markings to ensure legibility underwater.
