Czapek used the opening day of Dubai Watch Week to add two rosewood coloured models to its Quai des Bergues collection.

Quai des Bergues Rosewood watches, presented in 38.5mm cases, are described by Czapek as genderless watches, but with one coming without diamonds in steel and another in white gold with diamonds, they could be considered his and hers models.

It is the rosewood-coloured gilloche dial that will appeal to both men and women, the company’s chief executive Xavier de Roquemaurel believes.

“This deep, natural-looking colour invokes wide-open desert spaces, with a reddish cast that changes with the sunrays… Something hard to define from raspberry to carmine, a fascinating new electroplated colour,” he describes.

“Our approach to watchmaking for women is close to the one that was at the origins of watchmaking. We like to play with proportions, size and some feminine details, but we above all like to propose women ‘haute horlogerie’ mechanical products,” he adds.

Both watches house the Czapek SHX1 proprietary calibre, a 7-days hand-wound movement with two spring barrels and a power reserve of 7 days.
