Crown & Caliber on the hunt for major Heuer auction

US-based watch reseller Crown & Caliber is planning a major sale of vintage Heuer timepieces, with a call out to collectors and trade to submit rarely-seen styles for sale.

Having noted a steady rise in interest and good sales figures for Heuer models, the online business is now seeking models for its upcoming auction.

Quoted by Bloomberg, Crown & Caliber’s CEO Hamilton Powell said the market for Heuer timepieces has experienced “a huge boom in interest over the past few years,” noting a general rise in the trend for retro design and with this, watch houses launching “heritage” collections.

Crown & Caliber has enlisted the help of America’s foremost Heuer historian Jeff Stein to ensure the watches selected for the auction meet the pedigree expected by buyers.

Among the Heuers already expected to garner high virtual hammer prices are two Heuer Monaco 74033N, also known as the Dark Lord. Rarely-seen, these black PVD timepieces could fetch up to $70,000 (£53k) a piece.

Watch fans based in New York will also have the opportunity to see the entire collection amassed for the auction at Trunk Club’s New York City Clubhouse in late September.
