The Company of Master Jewellers (CMJ) has announced three new members as part of the group’s on-going strategy to grow its membership.
The new businesses are J Herron & Son in Blyth, H Lamb Jewellers in Hartlepool, and Harrisons Jewellers, which has stores across Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire, and the additions see the CMJ’s total number of retail members rise to 158, alongside more than 400 doors across the UK and Ireland.
Director John Herron of J Herron Jewellers, said of its decision to join the group: “After talking to our friends within the trade who are already members of the CMJ, we were eager to join in order to access the helpful network and excellent trade events the group offers. Since joining we are already feeling the benefits of the group and are excited to be part of the family.”
Raphael Simmons, head of retail at Harrisons Jewellers, added: “We joined the CMJ to develop our network and meet like-minded people to share and discuss ideas with. It is reassuring to be part of a forward-thinking group of industry-leading jewellers that together can safeguard the future of the industry and introduce ground breaking initiatives. We should have joined sooner!”
Following the announcement, CMJ chief executive Willie Hamilton said: “A big drive for the CMJ this year is to bring in new members who can benefit greatly from the support that we can provide to any business, big or small. We are looking to build on our solid foundations, to continue to bring in forward-thinking, quality independent retailers.
“We are delighted that independent family-run retailers such as these continue to recognise the benefits that the CMJ family can offer in terms of support and networking opportunities. What our members always appreciate most is that they can take advantage of everything we offer without losing any of their independence in terms of buying decisions and how they run their business, so being a member really is a win-win.”
