Click and Collect services could hold the key to making the high street a more attractive shopping channel, according to a new survey of more than 1,000 UK shoppers.
Nearly 19% of respondents to The State of Retail 2016 survey, carried out on behalf of retail marketing agency Live & Breath, stated that Click and Collect had changed the way they shopped.
The convenient service continues to draw shoppers to physical retailers, having more of an influence on shoppers than smartphone shopping (11.8%) with smart watches influencing the shopping habits of just 3.9% respondents.
While 28% of shoppers state that click and collect is making online retail better, the desire for cheaper products still comes top of the list.
Half of respondents claimed that they visited the high street as often in 2015 as they did the previous year.
But click and collect services are proving expensive to provide with Tesco and John Lewis now both charging for orders under £30.
One thing still keeping shoppers away from the high street was the amount of available parking which 45% of respondents were concerned about. 30% believed the high street was too busy and 29% complained about prices compared to online.
