Citizen packs diver-focused features into latest Promaster GPS timekeepers

Citizen has enhanced its Promaster line with two solar-powered GPS watches that will keep ticking for seven years even if they are left in the dark.

The 200 meter certified dive watches have an on board GPS satellite receiver that ensures they are set precisely to the correct time as soon as they ping a transmitter anywhere in the world.

Citizen Promaster Eco-Drive Satellite Wave GPS watches are aimed directly at diving enthusiasts, and feature the world’s eight most famous diving locations — Sharm El Sheikh, Maldives, Phuket, Great Barrier Reef, Fiji, Hawaii, Galapagos and Fernando de Noronha — on a ring that also shows world cities.

Also from the divers’ tool kit are high-visibility luminous indices and watch hands and a unidirectional bezel with knurled notches that make it easier to turn wearing diving gloves.

They have 47mm titanium cases with a surface treatment, proprietary to Citizen, that makes it harder and more resistant to scratches.

Citizen has the watches on sale now for $1,350 and $1,395.
