Californian brand creates “athlete-focused” GPS smartwatch capable of tracking 12 sports

Californian outfit Huami has announced the international availability of its new premium multisport GPS smartwatch, Amazfit Stratos.

In collaboration with Firstbeat Technologies, a heartbeat analytics solution to optimize athletic training and recovery, and Zepp Labs, a multisport sensor and training platform that provides real-time analytics, Amazfit Stratos tracks more than 12 different sports and offers professional-level fitness and performance metrics.

Amazfit Stratos is a 5-day battery life premium multisport GPS smartwatch with a 5 ATM water resistance rating and an always-on transflective display. It tracks 12 different sports modes.

“Following the international success of our first GPS smartwatch, Amazfit Pace, it was clear there is true need for an athlete-focused smartwatch with the most advanced biomedical technology available,” said Frederik Hermann, head of sales and marketing for Huami.

“Both Zepp and Firstbeat have been exceptional partners and our collaboration on Amazfit Stratos means amateur athletes can train like pros to reach their peak performance.”

Powered by Firstbeat’s heart rate analytics engine, users can access their cardiorespiratory fitness level in terms of VO2max.

Automatically detected by the Amazfit Stratos during running and walking activities, VO2max describes the ability of the body to utilize oxygen to transform nutrients into energy.

With VO2max functionality, users can access vital physiological information, tailored coaching guidance, gain workout motivation, and benefit from the same scientifically personalized training insights used by professional athletes in the NHL, NBA, and NFL.

Amazfit Stratos recently earned the prestigious and internationally recognized Red Dot Award 2018 in Product Design.
