Bremont Watch Company is the overall national winner of HSBC initiative Global Connections 2013, which seeks out the most innovative and forward thinking companies.
The brand was announced as joint winner of the award alongside London-based Brompton Bicycles on Thursday evening at an awards ceremony, which took place in Loch Lomond in Scotland.
The watch brand was selected from thousands of entries across the UK to become one of 10 regional winners invited to attend the UK national final event where the winners were decided and announced.
The joint winning result is a first in the history of HSBC Global Connections. HSBC head of business banking Steve Price said: “Our two winners represent the pinnacle of UK manufacturing, their innovative thinking has seen them succeed in multiple export markets, and they have a strong focus on giving back to the communities they operate in. The quality was so high between our finalists and we felt that it was appropriate make both of these outstanding businesses, Global Connections winners.
Bremont was pleased to have picked up the accolade. Co-founder Giles English commented: “We’ve spent a lot of time with the other finalists and they are all amazing companies so to be chosen as the winners is a huge honour. I am so proud for everyone involved in the business and it will mean a huge amount to them all. For someone outside the business to recognise that we’re doing the right thing is a great boost.”
