A sign of just how big Watches of Switzerland Group has become in recent years (current market capitalization £3.3 billion) is that when the retailer secures a limited edition with Breitling, the watchmaker has to produce 650 units.
That would be a massive core collection sell-out for your average Swiss watchmaker.
A special Breitling Endurance Pro has just been unveiled, which will go on sale exclusively at Watches of Switzerland on both sides of the Atlantic, Goldsmiths and Mappin & Webb in the UK and Mayors in Florida.
That adds up to 163 potential stores, plus ecommerce sites, although not all the physical stores stock Breitling.
The Endurance Pro sports chronograph comes in a dark green colorway across its dial, bezel, case and rubber strap.
It is lightweight, thanks to its 44mm case being made from Breitlight, an alloy said to be 3.3 times lighter than titanium and 5.8 times lighter than stainless steel, as well as being nonmagnetic, thermally stable, and hypoallergenic.
The watch houses a quartz-based Breitling Caliber 82 and is retailing now for $3,150.
“The long-standing relationship between Breitling and The Watches of Switzerland Group reflects our shared values and dedication to delivering excellence to our customers. The exclusive Endurance Pro in dark green reflects these values in a timepiece that is functional, accessible, refined and stylish,” says Breitling CEO Georges Kern.
