At his first Breitling Summit after taking the reigns in 2017, CEO Georges Kern was asked whether the 15-year-long Breitling for Bentley partnership would be jettisoned as part of a process to prune back the number of references.
It was under review, he replied, prompting an audible intake of breath among the audience in London — Bentley being close to a sacred British brand.
Common sense has prevailed, and arguably Breitling’s best watches of the past two years have been created as part of the Bentley partnership, now in its 17th year.
Including today’s gem, the Breitling Premier Bentley Mulliner Limited Edition, which shares part of its design inspiration with Bentley’s sporty Continental GT Mulliner Convertible.
The chronograph, like its partner automobile, will be scarce at just 1,000 pieces.
It will purr into stores in a 42mm steel case with a silver dial contrasting with dark blue subdials, tachymeter ring and croc leather strap with white stitching.
Inside is a Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01 with 70 hours of power reserve.
