Bob’s Watches plans more auctions as first sale nets almost $500,000

Paul Altieri, CEO of Bobswatches.com.

Pre-owned Rolex specialist Bob’s Watches will look at holding more online auctions after its first sale made almost $500,000 from just 12 watches.

Pau Altieri, CEO of Bob’s Watches, says that the first auction has strengthened his belief in the format. “It validates the auction format for us so that we can now think about doing them more frequently with special watches,” he tells WatchPro.

“[The auction was] very well received by the watch community,” Mr Altieri continues. “It was a terrific success in that all 12 lots sold to individual collectors looking to add to their collections.  These were all highly desirable, honest watches that came directly from the original owners.”

The auction was followed by almost 1100 registered bidders from more than 50 countries.

The highest price was paid for a Paul Newman Daytona that sold for $215,000.
