Richemont brand Baume & Mercier is celebrating racing car driver, designer and entrepreneur Carroll Shelby by creating a one-off timepiece.
It has partnered with racing car manufacturer Shelby American to create the watch, which is the second installment in its collaboration with the American carmaker.
The one-of-a-kind model that will be auctioned at Antiquorum in New York on 9 December is on behalf of the Carroll Shelby Foundation, which works to raise funds to assist the families of children with major heart ailments.
This auction piece will be on display exclusively at Watches of Switzerland’s Canary Wharf store from 9-13 September.
The sporty one-off Capeland Shelby® Cobra chronograph is distinguished by an off-white dial with sky blue racing car stripes, superluminova accents on the dial and hands, a polished/satin-finished 18K red gold case, a finely grained black calfskin strap with round-scale blue alligator lining and gray stitching, and an 18K red gold pin buckle. The inscription “Shelby Cobra 1965-2015, Unique Piece” is engraved on the case back, framing a sapphire crystal bearing Carroll Shelby’s signature. The watch is fitted with a Swiss-made self-winding movement.
