Bamford punches-up licensed character watch business with second Popeye GMT

Previous watches featuring Popeye and Snoopy have all sold out, so it is no surprise to see Bamford London flexing its muscles in the licensed character watch space again with a second Popeye piece, this time a GMT showing two time zones.

The blue and black dial has Popeye, post-spinach shot, striking a pose with his iron-fueled arms moving around the dial as the hours and minutes hands.

The GMT hand is a red-tipped arrow circling an internal 24-hour track.

It comes in its own version of a tin can, which for reasons unknown makes no reference to the life-enhancing properties of spinach.

“I am a life-long fan of Popeye. I was blown away by the 90th anniversary celebrations and the success of the last edition. It always makes me smile when creating a Popeye GMT as Popeye is all about adventure. The Bamford London dual time GMT is inspired by travel and adventure with its 24-hour GMT hand allowing users to view a separate time zone wherever they are.”

The 100-piece limited edition Popeye GMT, priced at $1,625, comes in a 40mm steel 100m water resistant case housing a Sellita SW330-2 automatic movement.

It is worn on a black cordura strap.
