Audemars Piguet writes the history books with dedicated wristwatch volume


Haute Horlogerie watchmaker Audemars Piguet isn’t just going in the history books, it’s writing them too.

The watchmaker has announced it is producing its first ever book dedicated to the history of the its wristwatches following four years of archival research and writing from the heritage department.

The story of Audemars Piguet’s will feature detailed photography, narratives with cultural context, first-generation historic documents, archival images, technical specifications and production data of the brand’s 550 wristwatches.

Audemars Piguet’s range of 550 timepieces comprises 35 minute repeaters, 188 calendar wristwatches, 307 chronograph wristwatches and 20 double complication wristwatches featuring both calendar and chronograph.

In addition to documenting Audemars Piguet’s complicated wristwatches, the book also tells the story of the revival of complications that occurred during the height of the Quartz Crisis in the late 1970s.

Since the origins of Audemars Piguet, the company has sought to break new ground in the creation of complications while simultaneously embracing immense creativity in regards to form language and design aesthetics.
