Alpina packs its next generation smartwatch with health and fitness tech

Alpina is encouraging customers to go online to configure their own AlpinerX hybrid smartwatch in one of 1,500 different styles this month.

From June 29 to July 31 there will be a $200 discount for the watch and, for every AlpinerX that is designed and pre-ordered online, Alpina will donate $200 to the National Park Foundation.

New models this year named AlpinerX Alive will have integrated heart rate monitoring and onboard GPS in addition to the usual activity tracking and communications features.

“Today marks the beginning of a new chapter: the AlpinerX Alive. Ahead of its official launch, Alpina decided to make the new model, complete with new expertise, available for presale online. Given the global circumstances, this option gives the opportunity to stay home and purchase a custom timepiece in anticipation of a sport routine bouncing back post-crisis,” Alpina says.

There will be six models in the AlpinerX Alive collection, which are expected in stores in August.

The collection will have a new high-resolution AMOLED touch screen and an improved rechargeable battery with up to seven days of battery life.

Promoted as an urban sports watch, AlpinerX Alive will have new health-monitoring functions including measuring breathing, VO2 max and hydration.

A Dynamic Coach will tailor exercises to the day and to the user’s physical condition and monitor progress through the smartwatch app.

The 45mm watch comes in navy blue fiberglass for $995 ($795 on website during the promotion period) or stainless steel for $1195 ($995 during the promo).
