Roger Dubuis and Lamborghini Squadra Corsa have screeched into a high octane partnership that screams extreme power and precision.
Squadra Corsa is the racing arm of Lamborghini, and the collaboration was revealed today at its Italian R&D department, Centro Stile, where Roger Dubuis introduced the Excalibur Aventador S, named after Lamborghini’s iconic model.
Roger Dubuis, and its watch owners, love racing. The company teamed up with Pirelli earlier this year to launch Excalibur models inspired by the tyres that Pirelli supplies to Formula 1.
Lamborghini Squadra Corsa is another great fit, with the racing factory’s focus on leading edge research and development feeding into some of the most beautiful cars ever to grace a race track.
Roger Dubuis wants to be known for timepieces that no other watchmaker will attempt to make, whether that relates to design, engineering or aesthetics. The watchmaker’s current mission statement is ‘dare to be rare’.
While watch journalists were admiring the new Excalibur, motor racing hacks were far more interested in the sight of Lamborghini’s new car, the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO.
Stefano Domenicali, chairman and chief executive officer of Automobili Lamborghini, expressed his delight at the twin launches and the partnership. “Lamborghini Squadra Corse is continuing its plan to grow and consolidate its position as a trend setter on the competition scene. We are proud to work with a prestigious brand such as Roger Dubuis; one which shares our values of ongoing innovation and product uniqueness, while always respecting our heritage and with the purpose of thrilling and amazing our customers and all those who love the brand around the world,” he said.
“Like Lamborghini, we deliver ‘engines’ distinguished by their extreme quality and cutting-edge performance. Like the owners of exceptional Italian super sports cars, our customers are interested in standout aesthetics that ensure instant recognition matched by exclusivity and rarity. Combining our talents to deliver exceptional timepieces with unique experiential value, we are therefore placing ourselves in a higher place,” added Roger Dubuis CEO Jean-Marc Pontroué.
The Excalibur Aventador S has a new movement, the Duotor, developed exclusively for use in Lamborghini watches.
It is available in two limited lines: the Giallo Orion is a run of 88 pieces while only eight Arancio Argos models will be made.
