Porchet and Scheufele honoured for talent and passion

Pre-eminent enamel artist Anita Porchet and Chopard co-president Karl-Friedrich Scheufele have been honoured by the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH) for the talent and passion they display.

Freelance artisan Porchet was presented with the Hommage au Talent award while Scheufele took home the Hommage à la Passion at the Cité du Temps in Geneva yesterday, the 4th time the annual awards have been presented since being established by Italian journalist Eugenio Zigliotto through FHH’s Cultural Council.

The previous recipients of the Hommage à la Passion include Jean-Claude Biver, Walter Lange and Henry-John Belmont while Giulio Papi, Jean-Marc Wiederrecht and Philippe Dufour have been presented with the Hommage au Talent.

Vacheron Constantin, Piaget, Patek Philippe, Hermès and Chanel are just some of the houses that have called upon the rare talent of Porchet whose skill as an enamellist almost single-handedly prevented the art form from dying out within horology.

Karl-Friedrich Scheufele has been recognised for his prescient move of establishing Chopard’s mechanical watch manufacture in 1996, founding Fleurier Ebauches and setting the brand on the path to excellence. His single-handed revival of the Ferdinand Berthoud name in 2015 also serves to illustrate his passion for haute horlogerie.
