Hublot has dedicated a watch to record-breaking Olympic sprinter Usain Bolt, the King Power Usain Bolt chronograph.
Hublout said that it has worked closely with Bolt on the design of the watch as the runner wanted it to “be a fusion of the symbols representing everything he holds dear”.
The 48mm micro-blasted sand-blasted ceramic King Power Usain Bolt timepiece’s strap has been made from the same synthetic leather as the shoes Bolt wore in 2008 while breaking world records at the Beijing Olympics; Bolt’s famous celebratory pose has been recreated with an anthracite grey transfer on a black background at 9 o’clock in the centre of the movement’s permanent small seconds counter; and the black and gold colour scheme has been used to reference his running shoes.
The chronograph movement features a central 60-second hand and a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour chronograph counter sits at 6 o’clock, it has a date window and it is decorated with a touch of green in a nod to the colours on the flag of Bolt’s home country of Jamaica. The flange features a 2N gold powder coating and the strap is made from exactly the same gold-coloured synthetic leather as his shoes which has been stitched onto black rubber for increased flexibility.
Hublot chairman Jean-Claude Biver said: "It’s perfectly natural to be associated with the fastest man, not just on the planet, but the fastest since the Big Bang."
