Grand Seiko’s re-creation of its first timepiece has bagged the Classic Star 2018 Award, given by Watchstars.
Winners of the Classic Stars awards are chosen by a jury of 88 world-renowned horological experts from 23 countries.
The Grand Seiko was singled out for its state of the art vision, wonderful aesthetic and movement. “The perfect example of how a re-edition should be,” the jury said.
The re-creation is from the company’s first piece in 1960. The revamped piece boasts a slightly larger 38mm, however it still sports the original crown and clasp from the 1960s version.
Grand Seiko beat the likes of Rolex, Cartier and Breguet to claim the title. Last year’s Classic Star was the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-King.
